Adrienne Arsht Center: Miami's performing arts in a setting of splendor

Published: Apr 8, 2009

Be it ballet or modern dance, Broadway performances or jazz, experimental works or opera, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is your likely destination.

Noted architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, with the help of other influential architects, designed the beautiful and brightly lit Adrienne Arsht Center, which opened to the public in 2006. You can't miss this distinctive building just north of Bayfront Park.

Click here for current performances.  Come to Adrienne Arsht for jazz perfomances from around the world, intimate and spectacle theatre, contemporary dance, shows for children and families, knee-slappin' comedians, experimental and classic theatre, pop stars, and much more.  The Florida Grand Opera, the Miami City Ballet, and Broadway Across America hold frequent performances at Adrienne Arsht.

There's not a bad seat in the house — the acoustics are fantastic whether you're in front of the orchestra or in the last row.

Don't have the money to spend on the performing arts center?  Don't worry: They have several free events, as well! Reserve your ticket for Free Gospel Sundays, where you'll hear the community's best gospel choirs and soloists.

Bring the kids out to the free Family Fest at Adrienne Arsht.  Teach your kids about arts and culture while taking part in fun activities. Face painting, puppet making, story telling, songs, dances and movement and theater lessons should be enough to entertain the kids for a few hours.  Check the website for upcoming family-friendly events.

Purchase parking at the same time as your performance ticket for $15, or valet at the event for $20. To learn about membership levels, click here. If you have some free time and an unquenchable love for the arts, consider volunteering.

If you're going to an evening show and don't know where to eat beforehand, click here.  The Adrienne Arsht Center provides a great list of restaurants to try in the area.  View the performance calendar and get ticket info here.
