South Beach isn't the only beach in Miami. At just $5 per vehicle, Crandon Park is a popular destination for Miamians and visitors. The offshore sandbar provides a surf-free zone for swimmers, waders, and walkers who enjoy calm water.

Sit under a palm tree and enjoy Crandon's two-mile stretch of white beaches. Lather up your sunscreen and have a beachin' good time.

This park is a frequent gathering-place for birthday parties and other events. The numerous covered picnic tables and grilling areas provide a perfect setting for a celebration — just don't forget the burgers and hot dogs.

Don't be surprised if you see several inflatable moon-bouncers rented at Crandon for the weekend fiestas.

At Crandon you can swing into a friendly game of tennis on one of the park's 27 tennis courts, which are home to the prestigious Sony Ericsson Open. Enjoy a round of golf where the Senior PGA Tour has competed for the last 18 years. Crandon Park has hosted famous golfers such as Ray Floyd, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino.

Revel in a smooth bike ride, dominate a game of sand volleyball, rollerblade along the park's paved walkways, fly a kite, or rent a kayak at the North Concession and explore the bay's clear, blue water.

Butterfly and bird walks at Crandon will excite nature enthusiasts. Share the beach with turtles, songbirds, hawks, iguanas, and other South Florida creatures. A guided tram tour of the Bear Cut Preserve gives visitors a close look at this natural Environmental Study Area. The Family Amusement Center is located near the beach.

For $38, you can rent a cabana for the day. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, these lovely beach cabanas are even equipped with showers.

Lifeguards watch over swimmers from 13 raised towers. They are also responsible for updating swimmers on water and weather conditions.

The Crandon Park Marina, right before the park entrance on the causeway, has all the boating supplies you might need.
