Opened to the public in 1962, this accredited museum moved several times before settling in 1984 in the Cultural Center on Flagler alongside the Main Library and the Miami Art Museum.
The museum's Research Center houses the Tebeau Library and the Wilkins Archives — both notable collections, along with recently added online catalogues History buffs could spend days sifting through documents. Books lovers may want to browse through the numerous publications.
For $35 each, children can spend the night at the museum, where they'll enjoy arts and crafts, skits and other hands-on activities while being surrounded by ancient artifacts. They can snuggle up to sleep in a 1920s trolley car or under a Seminole chickee.
