Don't know what a chukker is?  Don't know the meaning of hook, made pony, or mallet head?  Don't worry —  come  to the  Miami Beach Polo World Cup anyway and watch horses frollic on the beach. Check out this Polo Glossary to brush up on the most crucial terms of the game.

This year's Polo World Cup will take place oceanside in South Beach May 1-3 in front of The Setai Hotel and Resort, between 20th and 22nd streets.

These hard-riding polo teams will battle for the La Martina Cup and of course, bragging rights. Bring your towel or beach chair and watch the action.

Argentine polo star and heartthrob Ignacio "Nacho" Figueras, whose good looks have landed him a contract as the face of Ralph Lauren's Black Watch collection, will be taking part.  Figueras plays in Argentina and, in the United States, for the BlackWatch Polo Team.

The equestrian weekend kicks off the day before the Polo World Cup: On April 30, the Women's Polo Cup takes place from 2 to 4 p.m., marking the first year female athletes have participated. Directly after that match comes the cocktail party, press conference, fashion show and party.

On May 1 and 2, you can watch the matches in the sunshine from 2 to 5 p.m.. with the 7 p.m. cocktail parties and dinner to follow. The Official After Party both nights will rage until 5 a.m. VIP Attendees to Miami Beach Polo receive free drinks from the bar from 10 p.m. to midnight at each After Party event.

On May 3, you can catch some horseplay at 2 p.m., and watch the Trophy Presentation for both Women and Men's Polo beginning at 5:30 p.m. It's not over until the last After Party ends at 5 a.m. May 4.

For the full weekend's schedule, click here. General admission is free. VIP tickets start at $130, and three-day passes are $350. VIP ticketholders are invited to sip Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire cocktails and snack on bites from China Grill, Blue Door at Delano, Asia de Cuba and Plat Bleu at Delano. VIPs can also lounge in style at their own tent, where a live DJ performs for the polo crowd.

If you're in town on vacation, find a hotel near the action. Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Z Ocean Hotel South Beach and The Setai have packages for polo vacationers.

Event sponsors include The Setai, Grey Goose, SOBeFiT Magazine, China Grill, Blue Door at Delano, among others.
