Taco Rico Tex Mex Cafe is the University of Miami student's go-to restaurant for inexpensive food and big taste. When driving by on US 1, look for the colorful "Tex Mex" sign and the Dos Equis outdoor umbrellas.

With several tables inside and a few more on the outdoor patio, this favorite taco joint can fill up quickly. Vivid greens, reds and yellows brighten up the inside of the restaurant.

Lunchtime is busy at this US-1 hotspot. The lunch menu features quesadillas, taquitos and tacos with a side of rice and beans for around $6.

Unlimited chips and your choice of salsa at the salsa bar will have your mouth watering.

There's no full bar here, but the ice-cold beer, frozen margaritas and wine are enough to compliment your meal. They also have the best ice around.

Starters include loaded nachos, chili con queso, guacamole and chips, jalapeño poppers and taquitos, all $5-6 each. You can also try tortilla soup or chicken corn chowder for $4.

If you've got a big appetite, make sure and try The Mexicana, $13. This meal includes an enchilada, a taco, a quesadilla, rice and beans. The Feast includes a hard-shelled chimichanga, deep fried and covered in sauce, and your choice of a chicken, pork or beef burrito for $9.

Taco Rico has red, green, mole and cream spinach enchiladas. As far as tacos are concerned, your options are beef, beans, chicken, pork and steak, all less than $2 each.

Order a grilled churrasco steak marinated in chimichurri sauce for $14. Chicken, steak, pork, vegetable or shrimp fajitas are another tasty option, $9-$13. Fajitas come with rice and beans, guacamole, tortillas, sour cream and cheese.
