Rosa Mexicano loves guacamole for two

The funky colors of Rosa Mexicano definitely catch your eye in Brickell. Brightly situated under the Blue Martini Lounge on the corner of South Miami Avenue and SW 9th Street, this restaurant can draw in a crowd. Sit outside on the patio, stir your margarita in style, and scope out the Brickell nightlife.
Every month a new "Flavor of Mexico" graces the menu, with cooking classes offered to match the specialty. This month the One Pot Meal spices up the menu, and for $40 you can attend the March 11 Tasting Dinner, with an appetizer, entree, dessert, and wine and beverage pairing. The next Cooking Demonstration is March 14 with David Sloan, Rosa's Executive Chef. Cook with the masters for $35, or you can bring your own pot to get in free this month! Reservations necessary, contact Diane Loveridge at (786) 425-1001.
The drink menu at Rosa boasts over a page full of tequilas. (And it's hard not to have one, right?) It also tells your taste buds what to pay attention to — aged Cabo Wabo elicites honey and vanilla, while rested Patron leaves a taste of crisp, promenent oak. The bBar also has cocktails, wines, cervezas. The frozen Pomegrant Margarita, $9, is a patron pavorite.
Appetizer favorites include Guacamole en Molcajete, the two-person guacamole served with tortillas and two types of salsa, and Empanadas de Jaiba, three crispy empanadas stuffed with lump crab meat and guacamole and salsa for dipping, both $12. Other appetizers are the Tortilla Soup, Ceviches, and small Chicken Enchiladas, $7-$12.
Main dishes at Rosa include steak, fish, enchiladas, tacos, short ribs, and more. Try the Mole de Xico enchilada for a different taste; two beef tortillas topped with a sauce (or mole) made from plaintains, raisins, hazelnut, pine nuts, chiles, and a base of chocolate. This tasty $19 plate is like nothing you've ever had.
Tacos are a big hit as well, with goat, chicken and steak tacos ranging from $15-$19. Seared tuna, grilled shrimp or salmon, and roasted snapper satisfy the fish-lovers, $18-$22, and the pork shoulder, filet mignon, beef tenderloin, skirt steak, and pulled chicken should definitely appease all other meat-eaters, $17-$24.
Vegetarians, don't fret. Tou can try the Chile Ancho Relleno de Verduras, ancho chiles filled with spinach, goat cheese, and wild mushrooms over chipotle sauce ($16), the Ranchera Enchilada ($14), or the mushroom and cheese quesadilla ($9).
If you've got room left, try Tres Leches de la Casa, the three-milk cake covered with meringue and mango salsa, or the Trio de Sorbetes, sorbetes and Mexican fruits covered with chile powder, lime juice and sea salt, both $7 each.
Dessert drinks do not disappoint. The Luz Naranja is a mix of vanilla and orange vodka, orange juice and cream, and the Noche is a chocolate martini finished with whiskey and chocolate shavings.
