Siam Lotus Room: Thai Food with Heart
You may have noticed the sea-green building that houses Siam Lotus Room on US 1 and wondered if it were open and what is was. Although the parking lot isn't full, this delicious restaurant is open daily and is ready to dish out solid servings of Thai food.
Those of you that are local-food-minded will be happy to know that much of the food prepared at Siam Lotus Room is grown by a local Thai family in south Miami. The locally grown fresh basil, cilantro, lemon grass, papaya, galanga and ka-phao add Thai flavor to the meats and vegetables at Siam Lotus Room.
The menu includes appetizers, soups, salads, noodles, pad thai, seafood, duck, rice, house specialties, curry dishes, drinks and dessert. Many dishes are labeled by the sauce and give diners the choice of meat (usually chicken, pork, beef or tofu).
Spicy menu items are conveniently listed with a red pepper beside them. Servers will ask if you want your meal mild, medium or hot.
Dinner portions are large; my boyfriend and I both ordered meals, and after gorging ourselves at the table, we both had enough leftovers to have a complete meal the next day.
Favorite dishes include the Volcano Chicken, Spicy Basil with your choice of meat, Green Curry, Crispy Ginger Snapper, and Crispy Duck. Dinner specials are normally $12 to $20. Most dinner entrees come with white rice.
Lunch specials are about $10 each, and they are served with the soup of the day, rice and an egg roll.
The wine list includes red wines, white wines, blush wines and champagne, and Siam Lotus also has a good selection of beer.
Siam Lotus Room can cater your event with delicious Thai dishes, and they can even arrange for your event to have Thai music and dances for some extra flare.
