The soft lighting, cozy tables and minimal but tasteful décor at Matsuri Japanese restaurant are perfect for a date night or a night out with good friends and good food. If you have a larger party, it is wise to call ahead. Seating for larger parties is limited.
You can’t leave Matsuri without tasting the Crunch Hip Hop Roll, which has tuna, crunch tempura batter and masago with spicy red sauce. Other specialties are the X Roll, with shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber and masago with spicy mayo, the American Idol Roll, with spicy chopped toro and scallion, masago, cucumber and crab meat, and finally the Hotate Yaki, or in laymen’s terms, sautéed giant Japanese scallops.
If you can’t decide what you want from the extensive menu, servers can help you find something that fits your tastes. Cocktails aren’t available, but you’ll have the choice of several types of beer, wine, and hot and cold sake. Feel free to sit at the bar. You’ll still receive excellent service and you’ll have a front row seat for the chefs’ creations.
Stop by for a quick lunch during the week. The “Special Lunch Box” deal is only $8, and it includes miso soup, a house salad, a California roll, an orange, and your choice from a list of teriyaki chicken, sashimi, tempura and more. Roll Sushi averages between $7 and $10. Menu sections include Salad, Soups, Noodles, Vegetables, Tofu, Meat, Seafood, Deep-Fried, Tempura, Sashimi, Sushi, Roll Sushi, Rice, Desserts, Lunch and Dinner Specials.
Matsuri is open Tuesday-Thursday 11:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m., Saturday 5:30-10:30 p.m., and Sunday 5:30-10 p.m. Closed Mondays.
