Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant: Great taste is always on tap

If you're looking for beer in Brickell, go no further than Gordon Biersch's tall white columns and large maroon umbrellas. This is a perfect meeting point for happy hour, a quick drink, or a tasty meal.

The large patio on Brickell Avenue is usually filled with Biersch fans, having a meal or just enjoying a brew.

The beer sampler costs $5.50 and allows you to have generous tastes of five house beers (Golden Export, Hefeweizen, Pilsner, Märzen, Schwarzbeir) and one seasonal brew. The master brewer construes these magical flavors himself at Gordon Biersch.

Each time the seasonal beer is tapped, Gordon Biersch has a tasting party for the new brew. Who doesn't like free beer?

The restaurant's extensive menu includes appetizers, salads and soups, pizzas, sides, sandwiches, pastas, steak, and seafood. Their special Märzen barbecue sauce spices up the barbecue sandwich, and the Märzen Vinaigrette dressing adds zest to your salads.

Sides include sweet ginger rice, potato wedges, garlic french fries (a favorite), grilled asparagus, veggies, garlic spinach, and more. If you eat garlic french fries, make sure your dining partner eats them also.

Vegetarians try the veggie pizza, $12, with spinach, artichokes, mushrooms, sun-dried tomato pesto, tomatoes and cheese. Pizzas are made from scratch and are big enough to share (or take home for a tasty leftover).

House specialties include pecan crusted salmon, fire-roasted chicken fettuccine, and 18 oz. rib eye steak, $16-$28. If you're in the mood for a burger, you've got to try the Märzen Barbecue Burger for $11. Check out the lunch and dinner menus here.

Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 4-6:30 p.m. and Monday-Sunday 10 p.m. to close. Enjoy $5 margaritas, mojitos, martinis, special appetizers, and discounted beer and wine. If you're into martinis, try the Asian Peach Martini — it tastes like pineapple juice with a kick.

Many nights you'll find musicians entertaining guests on the outdoor patio.
