Mykonos Greek Restaurant: great food, great price
The Greek island Mykonos is known for its white sandy beaches and intense nightlife. It's not surprising that Mykonos Greek Restaurant opened in trendy Miami to share its regional delicacies.
Mykonos Greek Restaurant sits on the bend from SW 3rd Avenue and SW 22nd Street near downtown. The Kafouros family's hard work and dedication to well-crafted food resulted in this little Greek treasure in the heart of the city.
The restaurant's colorful murals illustrate Greek life, leisure and work on the beautiful island of Mykonos. Sit down and relax as if you've flown clear across the Atlantic while having traveled no further than your own Miami backyard.
If you aren't familiar with a dish, just ask your server. The wait staff is friendly and patient with diners who are unfamiliar with traditional Greek cuisine.
Starters like pita with hummus, breaded calamari, fried meatballs, grape leaves (dolmadakia), spinach and cheese pies will have your mouth watering. A variety of creamy dipping sauces flavored with garlic, caviar, yogurt and eggplant are also appetizing starts to your meal ($6–$7).
Herbivores will love the Greek omelette, filled with fresh green bell peppers and tomatoes. Other delicious meatless options include the vegetarian lasagna and the eggplant rolls, which are served with rice and fresh veggies ($9).
If you're at Mykonos for lunch, try the chicken souvlaki sandwich: grilled chicken on a wood skewer, sliced tomato, crisp lettuce and satziki sauce — made with garlic, cucumber, fresh dill, lemon juice and olive oil — wrapped in flat bread. The chicken gyro sandwich is another favorite ($7).
The dinner menu includes tasty concoctions like brisket of beef, roast lamb leg, roasted chicken, fried meatballs, sautéed Greek sausage, and gyro and souvlaki platters. If seafood is more your style, try the grilled octopus, shrimp and calamari varieties. Dinner entrées are typically $9 to $12.
To compliment your meal, sip on a Greek red, white or rosé wine. After dinner, try the sweet dessert wine, also a Greek favorite. Of course, don't forget to save room for a slice of Mykonos' famous baklava ($4).
Delivery is available Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 10 p.m. every day.
Mykonos can host your party or event for up to 65 guests. Catering for events outdoor functions is also available. Call the restaurant for details and pricing.
