Tips

  • Know Before You Go
Ground transportation is available outside baggage claim on the lower level. A 20-minute cab ride to the Port of Miami will cost about $20 for up to 5 passengers.
  • The Extras
Shops line the main terminal, and there are duty-free stores in most concourses. Don't miss the mia art gallery (Concourse E), home to traveling exhibitions and "Harmonic Runway" a fun, interactive keyboard of color in Concourse A.
  • On the Menu
Your best dining bets include the food court at Concourse E, which includes a California Pizza Kitchen, Cinnabon, Burger King and the airport's best bar, Casa Bacardi. For a full Cuban meal or just a cafe con leche (milk with a shot of espresso), head to La Carreta or Versailles, both in Concourse D.

MIA is a prety good airport compared to other ones i've been to. It's clean and it has good reastauraunts it is also easy to walk. But the imigration is terrible. It takes me almst 2 hours to get through.

Pros: Clean, many Walkways

Cons: Imigration, parking

I travel internationally approximately 30 times per year and most of it is through Miami. Overall it is easy to navigate and has many moving walkways for the long hauls. The longest I have taken to go through check-in and security is 40 minutes....usually about 10 minutes. Immigration is fast and smooth, never more than 20 minutes. Customs has always been a wave through. Best is an Admiral's club before security. I check in there very quickl.

Example of how not to build an airport

This airport is terrible. Immigration takes too long and is too invasive. The terminals are spread too widely and there is no good mode of transportation to other terminals for people who have to make connecting flights. I was told to walk to D terminal for a flight, only to find out (after the 20 minute walk) that I need to go back to B terminal to catch the flight. There are no good restaurants inside, and it's not easy to catch the hotel buses outside. I will try at all costs to avoid this airport in the future.
