Mary Brickell Village: spend the day in style

South Miami Avenue features Mary Brickell Village, a popular dining and shopping destination for many Miami residents. This two level shopping center has shops on both sides of South Miami Avenue.

Dining options at Mary Brickell include Balans Restaurant, Oceannaire Seafood Room, Rosa Mexicana, Grimpa Steakhouse, Abokado Sushi, PF Changs, Blu Pizza e Cocina and Salad Creations. Snag some delicious ice cream after dinner at Roma Organic Gelato -- you will not be disappointed.

The clothing boutiques include Joanna Paige, Martha Rey, Blush, Studio LX and Barbara Palacios. Most shops are open until 9 p.m. on week nights and 10 p.m. on weekends, so slide in after dinner and do some shopping. Martha Rey's swimsuits have been featured in Sports Illustrated, and the sales staff is friendly and helpful. Pick up some killer heels at Joanna Paige and grab a cool new top at Blush. Men aren't excluded either -- some boutiques at MaryBrickell feature only men's clothing.

The trendy Blue Martini Lounge on the upper level draws big crowds with its lush atmosphere and rockin' bands. This bar only has a cover on the weekends, and they feature live music most nights. Dress to impress -- they do have a dress code.

You'll find live music on the weekends at Balans outdoor lounge on the east side of South Miami Avenue. Grab a seat with friends and split a pitcher of margaritas, sangria, planter's punch or Long Island ice tea.

Pick up some cigars at Village Humidor on the lower level across from Rosa Mexicana. Need to fill a prescription? Head to Mortar & Pestle Boutique Pharmacy and shop for cute trinkets and gifts while you're there.

The variety of shops at Mary Brickell Village continues to grow and new spots open frequently. You'll find independent stores such as art galleries, shoe repair, jewelry stores, hair and nail salons and upscale boutiques. Chain stores like Starbucks, Subway, Regions Bank, Publix and FedEx Kinko's prosper in the midst of the rapidly expanding Brickell community.

Park along the street if you can find a spot, valet for a fee, or turn left on 10th Street (going north on South Miami Ave) and park in the convenient garage. If you're already downtown, you can take the free Metromover to Mary Brickell Village and save that parking money. The Metrorail stop at Brickell will also put you within walking distance of the village.
