Havana Harry's: a taste of Cuba south of Miami

Locals and tourists alike flock to Havana Harry's for large portions of great Cuban cuisine.

With a menu of appetizers, chicken, pork, beef, fish, seafood, and traditional sides of rice and beans, mariquitas and mashed potatoes, and sweet plantains, Havana Harry's provides a wide variety of Cuban cuisine. (Mariquitas, no comprende? They're chips made from plantains, and if you had to ask, then you must sample them.)

Entrees range in price from $9 to $16, with certain fish dishes in the $20 range. Try the Churrasco, a favorite of the Cuban culture. The Argentinean Steak for $16 is a thin and deliciously marinated meat that can easily feed two, but order an appetizer on the side. If you're a pollo lover that needs a tropical twist, try the Mango Chicken or the Chicken in Guava BBQ Sauce.

Consider the Springtime Snapper if you're in the mood for fish; it's a restaurant favorite. Dinner portions are large, so feel free to overindulge and basque in the Cuban cuisine and friendly atmosphere.  If you have room, try the Guava Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie or the Coconut Flan for dessert.

Havana Harry's offers a full bar and extensive wine list. Order a pitcher of sangrias for your table or sip on a delicious mojito, a traditional Cuban minty rum drink. This spot can accommodate large parties with appropriate notice, so celebrate your birthday with all your friends over heaping plates of food. Reservations are accepted, but not necessary unless you have a larger party. In the evenings, parking can be difficult, so if the restaurant lot looks full, wheel into one of  the metered spots across the street.

Lunchtime at Havana Harry's can also get busy, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't join in.  Most sandwiches are $7, including the Cuban Sandwich (with ham, pork, cheese, mustard and pickles on Cuban bread), the Steak Sandwich and the Mojito Pork Sandwich. Try the Grilled Dolphin Sandwich for $10. All sandwiches served with mariquitas or soup. Chicken, beef, seafood, and pork are also available for lunch, averaging in at $10. Lunch is also available for take-out.
