St. Mark's Episcopal School Reviews

I have a son in the lower school and he loves it! He wakes up every day excited to go. Our experience has been very good. The administration is working hard to keep on improving. I highly recommend this school!

I love the School and my Daughter is happy there............

Don't waste your money. I have 2 kids in the lower school. They have been there since pre K3. My oldest is doing ok. My youngest tested at 40% of grade level in reading by Huntington Learning Centers yet still received high passing grades by his teacher.

In my opinion I would not recommend this school. The past 3 years that my child has attended this school the leadership is lacking. The Middle school principle does little to oversee the teachers and therefore there is no accountability. They do not post grades online and often my child received his grades weeks after they have been completed. Upon periodically requesting grades from the administration, I was informed, they will not provide this, and it is the student s responsibility. Teachers lack enthusiasm and often are not prepared for class. The students do not experience joy and caring from their teachers, instead there is a sense of fear. The school is more concerned with checking the length of your hair and if you are wearing the appropriate socks then what is being taught.

My children have been a SMES since PK3 and the experience has been very hit or miss. Each teacher has had a very different teaching style some are up to speed others lacking.

A terrific school! I have two children here and the environment is warm, caring, challenging, stimulating, and friendly. My kids are in the preschool and the lower school...we couldn't be happier! Thank you, St. Mark's!

i am a former student at SMES and i don't know where to begin. first, that school needs to get bus service! besides that,if you are in middle school, you'll be harassed and bullied constantly by anybody in older grades! the kids cuss. the teachers are alright, but they give out detentions and academic notices left and right, and won't take 'no' for an answer! also, if you get in any kind of trouble,or have been blamed for something, the techers won't believe anything you say. finally, that school has a 'few' lazy teachers that sometimes don't even finish explaining the work, and don't come to help sessions ready to learn, 'cause all the teachers do is sit at their desk and drink coffee! another thing is, they're tuition goes up a couple thousand dollars each year yet they ask the parents for more money each month!

i used to be a student @ st. mark's and i have to say, it's a bad school environment. all the kids 4th-8th grade cuss and listen to hip hop. also there are a lot of bullies in the middle school section. the teachers are o.k.,but when it comes to homework, they accept no excuses, it's an automatic detention or notice. all that the kids talk about are sports.
