Von Wedel Montessori School Reviews

I currently have my child at the Von Wedel and although the academic level is excellent (considering that my child is not even 5 and is already reading an writing well above her age expected level) and my child is happy, I do have to say that the ratio of child per teacher is too high. There are around 35 children in a classroom with only 1 teacher and 1 assistant, the ages ranges from 3 to 5 years old. I also know for a fact that the new administration do not responds well to parents criticism.

Von Wedel used to be a great school, back when they cared about teacher student ratio and the children's well been. There where never more than 8 students per teacher on the pre-k. Back when we first registered our kid we felt very lucky to get a place after been on the waiting list. They didn't accept more than 24 kids per class and they had one certified Montessori teacher and 2 assistants per class. These days everyone who comes check in hand get in, currently they have 2 pre-k classes with 1 teacher and 1 assistant on each class. One class has 29 students, the other has 36. We had to pull or kid out mid year. After the change in ownership the school has lost everything. I wouldn't trust the current administration with my dog, let alone my child.

Excellent and for every child who wants to learn and have fun!

My child attended Von Wedel for 2 years prior to even beginning pre-k, then he was selected by lottery for one of the most reputable, top bilingual schools in Miami. However, he was so advanced with his reading and math skills, most of which I attribute to the amazing early training, compared to the other children in the pre-k that the teacher gave him his own set of advanced work through out the year. So, at least for kindergarten, we are back at this wonderful Montessori, where I know my child is receiving the highest level of personalized attention and academics possible. In addition, the premises is beautiful, along with a huge playground and farm animals.
