Miami Shores Community Church School Reviews

I do not recommend this school. It is not run well and is no longer a nice, friendly, family school.

This school is a gem, and the cost quite reasonable. My children both went here since a very young age. And though I moved them to one of the area's best magnet elementary programs, it was not because I was in any way dissatisfied with MSCCS. The academics at MSCCS are very strong. (My kids skills are well above grade.) The teachers are dedicated, competent and loving. My children learned not only to be good students here, but good citizens. They learned manners, respect and caring for their fellow classmates. The 'special' offerings are wonderful, and include art, music, PE, computer, Spanish and more. And there are also after school for-fee extra classes, that have included dance, gymnastics, TKD, piano and additional Spanish. What a wonderful and well-rounded education! Adjusting to a larger school has only made me appreciate what a gem MSCCS truly is.

I used to be a former student and their education is simply amazing. I felt as if I had gotten a LOT of individual attention, which made my performance very good. I had also been in a class with the current director and she was very nice. I love MSSCS and all the wonderful things there!

Our family has been a part of of MSCCS for seven years, and still going. Our oldest started in Kindergarten and went all the way to fifth grade, our other two have started in Prek-4, and are both doing exceptionally well. The staff is wondeful, and always open to talk to. The school has been improving (remodeling/upgrading) over the last few years, and no plans on stopping. With such small student to teacher ratios, no child is ever left behind, forgotten, ignored, as they would be in a classroom of 30+ students.

I have a child in the Pre-K3 class and one in the Pre-K2 class. Both children have attended since they were 3 months old. I absolutely love the school and the staff. Every year has gotten better with the new director. The enrichment classes are amazing. I have great relief in knowing that my children are being loved while they are learning.

We love this school. My 3 year old has been here a year, and my 1 year old started when she was just an infant. The teachers are caring, the administration is responsive and the parents are incredibly involved. I love that they get a curriculum and play time appropriate for their ages. The best review of all is how excited they are to go each day.

I notice a lot of the reviews for Miami Shores Community Church School (MSCCS) are from 2 or more years ago, and thus, grossly out-of-date for this school. MSCCS is simply a terrific place for the kindergarten and younger crowd (I simply cannot speak to the 'upper level' classes -- 1st thru 5th). MSCCS has improved dramatically over the past few years since the new director took over. [She had previously taught at the school for many years] She is very practical and responsive - though she can be tough when needed. The curriculum is traditional -- which is what I like. The 'extracurricular' offerings at the school are impressive, too. P.E., Spanish, Art, Computer Lab, and Music are part of the regular curriculum. At additional cost, piano, 'extra' art, 'extra' Spanish, gymnastics, ballet, etc., are also available. The spirit of the school is caring with a focus on respectful

My child has attended MSCCS for over two years now and I am very happy with the school. There is a warmth in this school that I have not seen in any of the other schools in the area (and I have visited them all). When you leave your child at school you have the comfort of knowing that your child is being cared for by thirty extra parents. The teaching staff is top notch and I plan on my child attending through the fifth grade. My child has loved all of her teachers thus far and looks forward to going to school everyday. I would in all good conscience recommend this school to anyone. I love the ethnic and economic diversity and the fact that while it is a religious school they have children of many different religions.

Admittedly, last year brought change. Some chose to leave, but in my view (and having kids there for over 5 years -- each since 6 or so months old), MSCCS is a high quality experience moreso now than ever. It is a safe, loving educational environment that provides families (those open to it, that is) with the opportunity to build community (faith and family based), which is not easy in this highly transitory city. We've had a terrific overall experience and have met some neat families along the way. The staff is affectionate and consistent (low turnover); the dedication to the kids, admirable; and the willingness of the new director to consider/act on constructive feedback, outstanding. The curriculum is traditional, but teachers have increased latitude to be creative within it. There are some great teachers/caregivers. My kids have really grown and thrived there.

My children loved this school. The teachers are loving. You really felt welcome by everyone from the Principal to the teachers assistant. It is my fondest memory of Miami.

This school has hit rock bottom. The teacher turnover rate is high due to lack of administration from the office. If you love your kids, don't send them here. You'll get overcharged and your children most likely will not have the Nursery/PreK experience they deserve.

This is my third year with MSCCS, and it's been a superb program for my children (prek3 - kindergarten). Their teachers have been caring, appropriately challenging, and inspirational. The school has been 'spiffed up' this past summer. The new leadership and office functions well, and it appears that the teachers are taking well to the new leadership. Parental involvement is high -- as high as any other school -- in that veteran parents and new parents are volunteering to help and have a say. The extra-curricular activities have been more than adequate for my kids.

Last year, our two daughters ( 2 and 3 years old now)went to this school. We were a little bit worried because we both speak another langage than langages use in the school and in Miami, and our daughters were very shy with others children and adults. But, the problem disappeared in two weeks. Now we don't know many others schools in miami, but we think that teachers do a good jobs with childrens. For us , it 's not only a daycare, it's a school first. We think too that the fact that it's a small school is very helpfull for children and parents to feel secured. We totally now feel confident with people who work there. We don't want that our chldren learn all extracurriculars activities, music and spanish are sufficients: we understand that it's not possible at their ages ( they already have too many things to learn with us).

The staff and teachers are very caring and attentive to the children. Very good school. I would recommend this school.

I had my children attend Miami Shores Commuity Church school's daycare. I found the daycare staff for my infant trained and caring. Although, the staff for my older child wasn't caring and involved. I would not recommend this school for older children. I was also disaapointed in the lack of parental involvement.

This is an excellent school that provides a loving and nurturing environment. My child had been attending this school for the past year and has done exceptionally well. She is advanced in all areas of study and continues to make remarkable gains. I would highly recommend this school! The current curriculum provides challenges for the students while aslo teaching good Christian moral values. Best school around for the money!!!

My child has attended this school for the past three years, and I have found that the overall quality of child care has drastically diminished. The attentiveness and sincerity of the teachers has changed considerably for the worse. And I can no longer subject my child to such an environment.

It's heartbreaking when a good school goes down...and this school is way down. Goodbye to great teachers and a friendly staff...Hello trouble.

It makes me so sad to say that I have to look for another school for my son. This used to be such a good school. My daughter learned so much when she was in their third grade class. What a shame.

Great school. Small and select! Great teachers

This school has finally hit rock bottom. I'm sorry to say that I would not recommend this school to anyone. It is not much more than a day care facility.

Their Nursery and daycare are fenomenal! My wife and I felt very guilty about having to leave our 6 mo. old daughter at day care but had no choice. We researched a number of local daycare facilites and whent as far as 15 miles from home. A friend recommended Miami Shores Comm Church School. Our Daughter is now 2 1/2 years old and is a happy, healthy and intelligent child. She speaks better than most of our friends children of the same age, she plays well with other children and helps cleaning ups her mess (well at least she tries...). The most important thing for us though is that she enjoys going to school and the teachers treat her with love and tenderness: we would recomend MSCCS to anyone.

I found that my children were not as prepared as they should have been.

This used to be an excellent school. They still provide an excellent curriculum but the school is run very poorly and the quality of teachers has declined.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend MSCCS especially a great teacher by the name of Mrs. Sanchez. She is a professional and hard-working individual and most important she cares very much for her students. She tries to give them the attention and comprehension they need in order to excel. She was one of the best teachers my child has had. I can assure you that you will be more than satisfied with her as your child's teacher. Now-a-days children aren't being provided with the necessary tools that they need to continue with a victorious education and most of them find themselves below grade level. With my child's kindergarten teacher he was able to achieve an above-grade level education. I am extremely thankful that I decided to enroll my child at this school. Thanks for everything.

This is a great school with reasonable tuition fee. Both of my girls are enrolled in their nursery & 3 years old class. It was difficult in the beginning when we switched from private homecare. I was worried about not enough personal attentions from the teachers/care takers but after being there for almost a year, I am amazed at how the staffs know more about my kids than me! My children are very happy with their teachers, they socialize with others very well (they share & comfort other kids), and they are learning things that you won't get in private homecare. Go take a tour and see how happy and well behaved these children are.

My family is very pleased with the overall learning experience at this great school. The Director/Principal makes sure the children are safe; as well as providing a fully knowledgeable, trained -and acredited- staff. There is no better school for your child's elementary education!

My daughter is in her second year at this great small school with caring staff and ABECA ciriculum. Not enough christian values taught.

Not too bad for a small private school.
