We have a new principal and she has made herself very visible as she get to know the students and parents. Ms Baglos is a people person and her leadership is welcome as we initiate some positive changes this year. Parent involvement is a challenge but we are looking forward to improvement and parents taking a active role in their child(ren)education. The gifted program is good, I think Mrs.Hess is very good with the gifted. I know that Mrs.Dana Lopes is an excellent teacher. I wish she could teach all the children. I sorry DR.Mahji is leaving she is really a great principal. The principal, Dr. Mejia, is the best that anyone could ever ask for. Unfortunately, this is her last year and I hope her replacement can stand in those big shoes. The only complaints that I have are, they need an auditorium/gymnasium and they need smaller class sizes, 12-16 per class. The Principal & Assistant Principal are of different ethnic backgrounds. I feel that is important to mention because today, we need diversity. The magnet program there is pretty good and if you want your child to learn how to speak and write properly, then this is the school for you. Unfortunately, this school does not have any extra activites, such as soccer, football, piano, gymnastics or cheerleading. However, I believe they have a girlscout troop there one day a week. The classes there are about 20-25 kids a class. You can always bet that your child has a writing assignment for homework. If you go there and you hear a lady screaming, 'Read Read, Read.. because reading makes you smarter' then you have just met the Principal.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 4 2003-09-09 “THIS IS A GOOD SCHOOL WHICH WOULD BE BETTER IF THE PARENTS WOULD GET MORE INVOLVED IN HELPING THE KIDS. MY KIDS HAVE DONE EXCELLENTLY THERE. THEY SCORE VERY WELL ON F-CAT AND OTHER TEST. THE ONLY COMPLAINT THAT I HAVE IS THAT I WISH THEY WOULD DO MORE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. BUT, I UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN YOU HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SCORES, THAT FIELD TRIPS ARE THE LAST THING ON YOUR MINE.”
