Miami Lakes K-8 Center Reviews

I am a parent of a student that just graduated from 8th grade at Miami Lakes K-8 Center. My son was at Miami Lakes K-8 since he was in Kindergarten. I cannot be more happy with the Admins, teachers and the school in general. It shows in the years as an A+ school. My son leaves not only with a wonderful education, but life long friends. Congratulations Ms. Calvo and your Admins you guys are wonderful !

Between the teacher who cannot spell correctly, nor speak the King's English properly; and teacher who screams at the top of her lungs on a regular basis; and the 45 minute to one hour waiting line of cars to pick up the children, this school is a nightmare. Why it is rated 'A+' is beyond me. Perhaps it warrants it rating based on Floriday standards, where the shcools are notoriously bad. But we came here from another part of the country with really good quality teaching. The kids are certainly safe in their environment, but there are a number of teachers who are sub-par, and the atmosphere is chaotic all of the time. I have been told that this was a little gem of a school before its' huge expansion to include grades 6, 7, and 8. Now it is a zoo. And parking???? Forget about it.

I have my three kids at this school, and so far I love it. It has it's pros and cons, the most concern I have is with security and discipline with the kids. Also, I think the school should have rsponsability when a incident happens with the students even id theya re not in the ublic Bus service, the child is still a student there. and well, even tough the is a private bus service, I think the school should take some action. being a large school as it is now, I think I'll be more closer, to check on my childrens.

Excellent school, teachers, Asst. Principal and Principal.

Great school. With the addition of the new building to accomodate the middle area it's a little congested but welcome. We are so glad to have such a great school in our community.

My daughter has attended Miami Lakes Elementary for four years. It has been a very positive experience for us. She is in a full-time gifted program and is challenged daily while not being bogged down with homework. Parent-teacher communication is good but more responsibility on the parent to achieve this. Overall I am happy with the school and highly recommend it.

I recently moved my daughters to a prestigious private school thinking that they would be better off and I am counting for the year to end. The curriculum advantage that Miami Lakes students are exposed is superb. Any student who strives to take advantage of everything this school has will reach success.

My children have been attending this school for three years now. If your child is an exceptional student and speaks Spanish then they will do fine. When you enter the office all you hear is spanish and you are greeted in the same way. The administrative staff is nice for the most part but are incompetent at times. The monitors do not even speak or understand english. They mean well and I guess they are doing the best that they are capable of. I am on this site because I am currently looking for a better school to move my children to. I am worried that by the time my children get to high school they will not be able to compete with main stream America.

I have a special needs child with ADHA and other issues who attends the school. The School Board District people are entirely to difficult to deal with but the Administration and staff are all gems. There is not doubt the work requirement is strong, but over time all children respond. Right now construction is horrible, but hopefully by next year the K-8 will complete the school.

If I would be given the choice of just one word to describe this school it would be 'excellent'. Our kids are blessed by attending such good and caring enviroment by everyone. The teachers really do care about teaching and making sure the children learn. CONTINUE THE GREAT WORK!

As far as public schools go I guess this one is good. There is a lot of hype though. My children have a substitute at lease once per week. Last week my son's class was 'watched' by the lunch monitor for over three hours. The teacher was in a 'meeting'. I do feel my children are in a safe and clean environment. The education is geared towards average children whos parents don't have a lot of home contact with them. The commmunication between the parents and school is absolutely awful.

My daughter attended 2nd grade with Mrs. Frey...wonderful teacher...great school...I really miss it!

This is an excellent school. My children have attended. It has mix of very experience teachers and recent graduates who are very motivated. Parental involvement is high with a very active PTA. The administration is highly competent, hard working and caring. I would highly recommend this school to any parent.

This school is great academically is every aspect. They have an International Program that incorportates the Spanish language after school. The school has been an 'A' school 5 years in a row. The teachers and staff are great role models for the children. I highly recommend this school for any parent with my eyes closed.

Great school A+, My daughter loves it. The teachers are great they care about the kids learning. There is alot of parent involvement. I am moving to Kissimee and the Miami Lakes Elementary is the only reason to stay!

My daughter has just started at this school, but I am already blown away at all the opportunities they provide. My daughter only 7 years old has been in 3 other schools in the span of 2 and a half years because of us moving from Orlando, but I am happy that we landed here. I live in an apartment right now but I plan on hunting for a house next year so my daughter will not have to move to another school. It has been hard for us but this school has made it easier. I first thought that we would not be as welcomed because of our minority status but I found out that I was wrong when I went to the first PTA meeting and boy am I glad.

My daughter has been attending this Miami Lakes Elementary for the last 5 years, beginning in Kindergarden. I am quite shocked by the accusations posted by the parent that states that the school is not safe since the reason I have not moved from the area is because of the A+ education that my daughter is receiving. If these accusations are correct I would anticipate that the school would address these issues with stricter guidelines for keeping children on school grounds until the parents or an authorized adult arrived to pick up their child. Overall, I find this school to be A+ in education and a great environment for my daughter.

This school has been an A+ school for the past four years. The teachers are highly skilled and they encourage the children to do their best. My exprience at this school has been wonderful. This will be my daughters last year there but I am enrolling my son in the fall for Kindergarten.

We are new to this state, and find the Miami Lakes Elementary quite satisfactory. The teacher for my 4th grader is very kind and she takes good care of the kids.

This is not the school for any child with ADHD or special needs. Even with evaluations this school has done nothing to offer a better quality of learning. Complete chaos when dropping off and picking up children. Not a safe facility or responsible. My seven year old was able to wander off the school grounds with nobody noticing which caused a frantic search. There are no locked gates on the property. If this is the only school option I would homeschool. A complte shock when transferring from Broward county.
