E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary School Reviews

Great all round school but could offer more opporunities for kids who need some sort of accelerated learning program.

good quality of academi programs. Music, art, sports are available. Midium level of parent involvement.

This is a great school. If your thinking of taking your child to this school you wont be sorry.

My two kids attend to Stirrup for the past two years. I am very pleased with the academic level of the school. As a matter of fact my child that is only in first grade writes and reads both languages (spanish and english) perfectly. I think we couldn't do it without the teacher's hard work during these two years. I am only a little concerned about the activities offer from the PTA. I think they are not desinged for parents that have to work full time. Kids that stay after school can not have the same preveligies than the ones that leave early but they are aware of these activities, such as 'pizza or pop corn day'. I would like to call the attention of this program so they can organize activities for all the kids even if they have to stay after school. Also PTA only sells the school T-shirts during business hours. I would like to have the time to participate in all the activities that the non working parents enjoy. Unfortenely I am a single mother and that is not an option. But at least I would like my kids to have the oportunity.

The principal of Stirrup, Mr. Thorpe, deserves the highest of praises for the superb work he is doing at the school. He is truly a leader's leader. He runs the school with both firmness and tenderness. His is a tight ship that sails smoothly. The children there are well-disciplined, respected, and happy. One could not ask for a better leader of children.

Compared to other schools around same area ex. Carlos Finaly (dual-learned school, with gifted or advance programs for children starting in 1st grade) Charles F. Hadley School ( saber- program, along with gifted ) just to name a few. E.F.W Stirrup has no type of academic or gifted programs for students, until they reach 4th grade or fifth , where the school does have a Magnet Program.. Why? Children ( who are advanced) are having their minds wasted for 3 or 4 years until they reach Magnet and that is only for Math and Science..(4th grade) If I keep mentioning schools ,( Ethel Koger Beckham, Bent Tree, Bowman Foster Ashe ect..) You will start to wonder why EFW Stirrup Elementary doesnt have any type of academic enhanced program for children, including mine, who are HOnor A1A students..Who implements the Gifted Or Advanced Programs??
